Change of Address & Name

Texas law requires notaries to notify the Secretary of State within ten days of a change in the notary's residence address. If you do not notify the state, you are subject to suspension of your notarial duties. We also suggest you notify your bonding agency of the change as well.

If you have lawfully changed your name due to marriage, or for any other reason, you may request an amended notary commission. Alternatively, you may continue to sign the name that is shown on your commission certificate until the current commission expires.
